If you were planning to stop by the health department Monday, don't. The doors will be locked.
The Toledo-Lucas County Health Department is closed Monday, October 12, in observance of Columbus Day. Normal business resumes Tuesday, October 13, at 8:00 a.m.
The department is still operating at 635 N. Erie St. It has received the keys to its future building on Spielbusch Ave., but renovations are underway and the move is planned for later this year. Services and appointments stay at the Erie Street location for now.
Tuesday through Friday hours are posted as 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., except Thursday, when the department opens at 9 a.m. You can reach the department at 419.213.4100.
Need something sooner? The department's guidance on smoke exposure says that if you have shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, you should seek immediate medical attention, contact your healthcare provider or go to an emergency department. That does not wait for a holiday.
It is one day. Most things can wait for it.
