Lucas Co. Children Services, group home face new lawsuit over child’s death while riding bike

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - The family of a child who died after being hit while riding a bike in Toledo has filed a wrongful death lawsuit in Lucas County. The suit names Turning Point Residential Services and Lucas County Children Services. It accuses the defendants of negligence and recklessly failing to supervise 11-year-old De’Vonte Bailey while he was in a group home. The family says proper staffing, oversight and safety protocols would have prevented Bailey from being left unsupervised at the time he was hit and killed while riding his bike last year.
