Lucas County preparing first tax certificate sale in two decades

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Lucas County is preparing its first tax certificate sale in two decades. The sale targets 407 properties with a combined $3.6 million in overdue taxes. The county treasurer said the sale focuses on property owners who live outside Lucas County. The tax certificates will be sold to one buyer as a package. Treasurer Lindsay Webb said this is essentially a pilot program that only scratches the surface of the amount of back taxes owed.
